DiLinKer SlimSAS 4X to 4*SATA, SFF-8654 38pin to 4xSATA(7pin) Cable, 100cm
DiLinKer SlimSAS 4X to 4*SATA, SFF-8654 38pin to 4xSATA(7pin) Cable, 100cm
Four SATA drives from one SlimSAS port. This DiLinKer 100 cm fan-out cable starts at a SlimSAS 4x host connector (SFF-8654, 38-pin) and ends in four standard SATA 7-pin plugs, one per lane. It replaces four individual SATA data cables with a single slim run from the controller — the classic fix for cable clutter behind a drive cage.
Why this cable
- One port, four drives. Each of the four lanes maps to one SATA drive through the fan-out.
- Standard SATA plugs. The four 7-pin ends mate with any SATA drive or backplane port — no special connectors.
- SAS controllers run SATA drives. SAS HBAs and RAID cards accept SATA targets, so one 4x port covers four 6 Gb/s drives.
- Slim ribbon construction. A single flat run instead of four round cables blocking airflow.
- 100 cm of reach. Comfortable for tower cases and 2U chassis.

Compatibility
Works with
- SAS HBAs and RAID controllers with a SlimSAS 4x (38-pin) port.
- Backplanes that present SlimSAS 4x inputs with SATA drive bays.
- SATA III drives — HDDs and SSDs alike.
Does not work with
- NVMe drives. This cable carries SAS/SATA protocol, not PCIe.
- MiniSAS HD (SFF-8643) or MCIO host ports — different connectors.
- The SATA ends as host ports. The SATA plugs are targets and must go to drives, not to a motherboard SATA controller.
Typical deployments
- Cable cleanup. One slim run from an HBA to the drive cage instead of four SATA cables.
- High-density builds. Four drives per SlimSAS port leaves the remaining controller ports free.
- NAS and storage servers. Fan-out wiring for 4-bay groups.
Frequently asked questions
Which end is the host?
The SlimSAS 38-pin end goes to the controller or backplane that has the SlimSAS port; the four SATA plugs go to the drives. Connecting the SATA end to a motherboard SATA controller will not work — that port expects a drive, not a cable.
Can a SAS controller really run SATA drives?
Yes. SAS controllers are backward compatible with SATA targets; the link negotiates SATA 6 Gb/s per drive. This is the standard way to mix cheap SATA storage into a SAS build.
Do the drives need extra power?
Yes — this cable is data only. Each drive takes power from the PSU through its usual SATA or Molex power connector.
Can I use it for NVMe?
No. The protocol here is SAS/SATA. For NVMe over SlimSAS, use a SlimSAS to U.2 adapter cable instead.
