Drive eight SAS or SATA disks straight from one SlimSAS port. This DiLinKer 100 cm assembly runs from a SlimSAS 8x host connector (SFF-8654, 74-pin) to eight SFF-8482 29-pin drive connectors — the direct-attach plug used on SAS drives — and includes four Big4pin power leads, because SFF-8482 leaves drive power to a separate feed. No backplane required.

- NVMe drives. This assembly carries SAS/SATA protocol only.
- Backplanes with SlimSAS inputs — for those, use a SlimSAS to SlimSAS cable.
- Drives without an SFF-8482 connector (most consumer SATA drives use separate 7-pin data + power).

Frequently asked questions
What is SFF-8482, exactly?
It is the 29-pin connector on SAS drives that combines the data signal with a power passthrough. The data side carries SAS or SATA signaling; the power side is bridged from a Molex lead — which is why this cable includes the four Big4pin power inputs.
Can I use SATA drives with it?
Usually yes: many SFF-8482 plugs include the SATA bridge notch so a SATA drive can be mated, and SAS controllers accept SATA targets. Check your drive's connector before ordering.
Do I need a backplane?
No — that is the point of this cable. It is for direct-attach builds where drives are reachable without a backplane. If your chassis has a backplane with SlimSAS inputs, a straight SlimSAS cable is the better fit.
Can it run NVMe drives?
