DiLinKer SlimSAS 4X to U.2 NVMe Adapter, SFF-8654 38P to SFF-8639 68P Cable with Power, 75cm
DiLinKer SlimSAS 4X to U.2 NVMe Adapter, SFF-8654 38P to SFF-8639 68P Cable with Power, 75cm
One SlimSAS 4x port (SFF-8654, 38-pin) to one U.2 NVMe drive (SFF-8639), with the power branch built into the assembly. This is the single-drive version of our SlimSAS-to-U.2 family — the tidy way to hang a 2.5-inch NVMe SSD off a tri-mode controller, a PCIe switch card or a board header with one 38-pin port to spare.
Why this cable
- One port, one drive. A clean x4 link from a SlimSAS 4x host to a U.2 SSD — nothing shared, nothing split.
- Power built into the assembly. The drive’s power arrives with the data cable; no separate U.2 power adapter needed.
- SAS 4.0-class signalling. Handles PCIe and SAS traffic up to the host port’s rating; negotiates down automatically.
- 75 cm reach. Standard controller-to-bay routing inside towers and 2U chassis.
- Passive assembly. No firmware, no driver, nothing to configure.

Compatibility
Works with
- Tri-mode and NVMe-capable controllers and boards with SlimSAS 4x (38-pin) ports.
- 2.5-inch U.2 (SFF-8639) NVMe SSDs.
- Chassis with standard internal drive power for the branch.
Does not work with
- SlimSAS 8x (74-pin) hosts — use the SlimSAS 8x to 2×U.2 cable for those.
- U.2 drives behind a backplane — run the host cable to the backplane port instead.
- SAS-only hosts driving NVMe drives — the protocol follows the host port.
Typical deployments
- Single-drive boot tier. One fast U.2 SSD off a spare 38-pin port.
- Cache or journal drives. Dedicated x4 links for write-intensive SSDs.
- Incremental expansion. Add U.2 drives one at a time as 4x ports free up.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a separate power cable for the drive?
No. The assembly includes the drive power branch, so one cable does data and power.
How is this different from the 2-drive version?
The 2-drive version starts from a SlimSAS 8x 74-pin port and splits into two U.2 drives. This one is a single x4 link for a single drive from a 38-pin port.
Will it work with a SAS host?
For SAS traffic, yes. For NVMe drives, the host port must carry PCIe — a SAS-only controller will not enumerate an NVMe SSD.
Is the length right for my chassis?
75 cm covers most controller-to-bay runs in towers and 2U servers. Route it away from power cables and sharp edges for the cleanest signal.
