DiLinKer MCIO x8 to SlimSAS x8, SFF-TA-1016 74Pin to SFF-8654 74Pin, PCIe Gen5 Mini Cooledge IO, Double Straight Cable 100cm (CBL-MCIO-1270S4T2)
DiLinKer MCIO x8 to SlimSAS x8, SFF-TA-1016 74Pin to SFF-8654 74Pin, PCIe Gen5 Mini Cooledge IO, Double Straight Cable 100cm (CBL-MCIO-1270S4T2)
One MCIO 8x host connector (SFF-TA-1016, 74-pin) on one end, one SlimSAS 8x port (SFF-8654, 74-pin) on the other, all eight lanes passed straight through at PCIe 5.0 speed. This is a one-to-one generation bridge, not a fanout: it connects a modern board that exposes MCIO headers to SlimSAS backplanes, drive cages and adapter cards you already run. The CBL-MCIO-1270S4T2 ships as a double straight assembly, 100 cm long.
Why this cable
- PCIe 5.0 rated, 32 GT/s per lane. Up to roughly 15.75 GB/s per x4 group; backward compatible with Gen4 and Gen3 equipment.
- 8 lanes in, 8 lanes out. A straight 1:1 pass-through — no splitting, no switch chip, no retimer.
- Built to the SFF pinouts. SFF-TA-1016 74-pin on the host side, SFF-8654 74-pin on the device side.
- Double straight construction. Two parallel straight runs that route cleanly along chassis walls.
- Passive assembly. No power draw, no firmware, nothing to configure in the OS.

Compatibility
Works with
- Server and workstation boards with MCIO 8x (SFF-TA-1016) headers, including PCIe 5.0 platforms.
- SlimSAS 8x backplanes, drive cages, U.2 adapters and switch cards.
- PCIe 4.0 and 3.0 equipment — links negotiate down automatically.
Does not work with
- SlimSAS 4x (38-pin) ports — this cable is 8x on both ends. For a 4-lane fanout, see the MCIO x8 to 2×SlimSAS x4 cable.
- SFF-TA-1016 38-pin (x4) headers without an adapter.
- Drives connected directly — the SlimSAS end must meet a port on a backplane, cage or card.
Typical deployments
- Platform refresh. A new PCIe 5.0 board with MCIO headers driving an existing SlimSAS 8x backplane.
- Front-panel to cage routing. MCIO board headers feeding rear drive cages over a 100 cm run.
- Lab and test benches. One straight 8-lane run between a test board and a SlimSAS device under test.
Frequently asked questions
MCIO and SlimSAS are both 74-pin — are they interchangeable?
No. SFF-TA-1016 (MCIO) and SFF-8654 (SlimSAS) are different standards with different keying and contact layouts, and a plug will not mate with the wrong receptacle. This cable adapts between them at the electrical level.
Is this a fanout cable?
No. All eight lanes pass from the MCIO end to the SlimSAS end as one x8 link. If you need to split eight lanes into two x4 ports, use the MCIO x8 to 2×SlimSAS x4 cable instead.
Will it run NVMe?
Yes, if the host port carries PCIe. The cable is protocol-agnostic; NVMe, SAS or SATA traffic follows what the host and device negotiate.
Why 100 cm?
The long reach suits tower servers and 2U chassis where the board headers and the drive cage sit far apart. Keep the run direct and avoid sharp folds to preserve Gen5 signal integrity.
